Battle of Hastings and Brighton

In 1066, some dude in Normandy decided that since he was promised the throne of England, he would come take it. Hence begins the story of William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings. The shot to the left is of outside the ancient abbey wall looking down into the valley where the Norman army were positioned. They had to fight their way up this hill to take on Harold II and the army of Nobles of England. It is interesting that this is not actually in Hastings, but is about 6 miles away in a place now known as Battle. There are ruins from an abbey that William had build on the exact spot where Harold was slain and today, there is a school, still on the property. But why talk all this history, let's talk about Brighton. William would not have stood a chance had he met prince John on the bungee jump. He drew quite a crowd at Brighton Pier and figured out the whole inverted thing. Brighton was an exceptionally colorful town on the coast. We had an excellent time and even got in some medieval amusement. This ride dates back to probably 2002. It was used to torture small children.
