This weekend's adventure took us south. We did one sidetrack to get our fix of
home. We decided to visit Wilmington. No, not North Carolina. This trip was in the UK. This was an
exceptionally picturesque little village set in the countryside of Kent. Unsure of where to go, we plugged in Wilmington into the Sat Nav and when asked our destination, we selected the street. Low and behold, that was it, The Street. Our destination on this journey was to see the Long Man of Wilmington. This mystic creation has a very debated history. The written evidence dates back to 1710 but the archaeological evidence shows disturbances back 500 years. Regardless, the 227 foot tall man is quite the tourist draw. It
is a nice hike from the car park through the muddy footpaths. We stumbled onto a whole condo complex of rabbits and made them all scatter into their respective rabbit holes. Once at the base of the giant, we took a
quick snap of a shot (see left: Dad at the base of the Long Man) to give perspective and then we started the trek back to the car. Wilmington also has one other landmark to allow you to relax after the hike to see the Long Man. The Giant's Rest is the nice little pub at the edge of the village.
